Dale Burns is the commercial development breeder for Bayer Crop Science’s Dekalb canola business. Originally from a Quebec dairy farm and following studies at McGill University and the University of Manitoba, Dale worked five years as an assistant specialty breeder with InterMountain Canola. He has since spent close to twenty-five years breeding canola hybrids for Zeneca/Advanta/Monsanto/Bayer. In 2015, Dale received the Global Plant Breeding Career Award from Monsanto.
Since 1994, Dale has chaired several sub-committees of the Western Canada Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee, leading to predictable standards for bringing high quality, elite canola hybrids to market.
An active Scout leader for over fifteen years, Dale, his wife, Susannah, and their three children live in Lethbridge, Alberta.
