Sean is currently focused on market research, advising on the wheat, barley and oilseed situation and agri-food business development in his role as the Market Analysis Manager for COFCO Canada, part of the COFCO group, China’s largest wheat, grain and food importer.
Sean is an experienced expert on the Asia-Pacific agri-food markets having been employed by a number of the major Asian grain traders and having lived and traveled extensively throughout the region. He has been buying and exporting Canadian & U.S. grains and agri-food products to China, Japan and SE Asia markets since the 1990s. As China is one of the top target markets for Canadian Wheat, importing up to 858,000 metric tonnes in one recent year, Sean is committed to facilitating China’s continued appreciation of the high quality of Canadian wheat and grains, as well as informing the Canadian grain industry of China’s needs, concerns and opportunities.
He studied at Simon Fraser University and BCIT in Vancouver Canada.
