Bio
Grant has been operating the family farm since graduating from the U of A in 1987. His mixed farm consists of a small feedlot and approximately 2700 acres of crop land in the Crossfield area. He has been working with Craig Shand for the past two years and is particularly interested in new farming technologies.
Session Summary
Farmers Edge has innovated Variable Rate Technology to the application of fungicides in canola- creating a customized Variable Rate fungicide prescription for a client’s field based on satellite imagery and crop scouting. Craig and Grant will relate their experiences with Variable Rate Fungicide on canola the past two seasons. Variable Rate fungicide application on canola has the potential to minimize risk, reduce input costs, and optimize returns in regions at risk of sclerotinia development.
