Bio
Dan Orchard graduated from the University of Alberta in 1999 with a B.Sc. degree, majoring in Plant Science. Dan’s passion for agriculture began with pedigreed seed inspection, followed by several years in the ag retail sector, and is currently part of the Canola Council of Canada’s Crop Production Team.
Session Summary
Canola has a very high demand for nutrients and when preparing a fertility program to maximize production, understanding plant nutrient requirements and basic soil properties is essential. Dan will sit down and address a flurry of typical questions surrounding key soil and fertility issues like: soil nutrient release, plant uptake and response, timing and placement of fertilizer, and moisture demands. The question and answer format, featuring Troy Prosofsky, is packed full of tips designed to help develop and achieve realistic yield targets while maximizing production.
