Bio

I was born and raised in Central Alberta and grew up on a mixed farming operation. I am the youngest of six children. I moved to Bashaw in 1967 when I was ten (10) years old and have been active in the Community ever since.

I have been married to my wife, Darlene for thirty six (36) years and was also fortunate to raise our two children in a mixed farming environment.

I have been involved in agriculture my entire life, the past seventeen years in the position of Seed Plant Manager in Bashaw, Alberta. We were the first Co-op Seed Plant in Alberta to offer optical sorting to our customers. My presentation at Farm Tech will answer the Why’s, How’s and Where I think we are going in optical seed processing in Alberta.

Session Summary

With over 16 optical sorters in the Co-operative Seed Cleaning Plants throughout Alberta, and more in the works, find out if they actually benefit producers. With changes to the 2012 Crop Insurance Program through AFSC, find out how optical sorting will play an important part. What discussions were actually behind the decisions to invest in color sorters? What is the future of optical sorting?”
