To feed the growing world population, it is estimated that food production in the next forty years will match the food production of the past 10,000 years. Pulses are an environmentally sustainable source of protein for the growing world population and to feed the growing appetite for protein as incomes rise in Asia.
In fact, Asian incomes will rise to $56 trillion from $21 trillion by 2030. Canada is poised to capitalize in the growing demand for vegetable protein to feed the world. The session will examine the demand and supply for pulses and the development of food ingredient options for pulses in the coming years.
