Q: What is the FarmTech Foundation of Alberta?
The FarmTech Foundation of Alberta is a registered not-for-profit society committed to agricultural extension, specifically crop production and farm management. The members of the Foundation are the the same as the host groups of the FarmTech Conference: Alberta Canola Producers Commission, Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta Conservation Tillage Society II, Alberta Barley Commission, Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commision, and the Alberta Seed Growers’ Association.

 

Q: Who organizes FarmTech?
The FarmTech Conference planning committee consists of two representatives from each of the host groups and one representative from each of the co-hosts. The organizing committee also appoints ex-officio members including representatives from industry, government as well as farmers. Alberta farmers make up the majority of the committee. CEO Productions is responsible for the management of the conference.

 

Q: How are the speakers and topics selected?
The FarmTech education committee is responsible for selecting all speakers. The education committee is made up of members of the planning committee plus additional representatives from across industry and government. The education committee follows these guidelines for selecting topics:

• a balance of new technology, environmental issues, agronomy and farm management topics
• a blend of big picture sessions and practical information that can be immediately put into practice
• a mixture of speakers including researchers, agronomists, farmers, and other professionals

 

Q: Why are some speakers sponsored by companies?
All speakers are first selected by the FarmTech education committee. After these decisions are made, Gold Sponsors have the opportunity to sponsor individual keynote speakers for an additional fee.

 

FAQ’s:  FarmTech moving to EXPO Centre- Northlands

Why is FarmTech moving to the Expo Centre?
FarmTech has physically outgrown the Mayfield Inn & Suites. Each year many delegates, sponsors and exhibitors that want to be part of the event are on a waiting list.

Northlands has recently added new conference facilities that provide excellent opportunities to comfortably host more delegates in educational sessions. The facility has more exhibit space and an abundance of parking on-site.

 

Where will I stay – what accommodations are available?
FarmTech has secured room blocks at several downtown and other area hotels with special rates for delegates, sponsors and exhibitors. Click here for a list of hotels and room rates

 

How will I get to Northlands each day?
If you don’t want to drive, Northlands will be providing a complimentary shuttle service to the downtown hotels.  There is also easy access to Northlands from downtown using the LRT. A taxi ride from downtown to the Northlands averages between $10 and $15.

 

What about parking?
Delegates, sponsors and exhibitors have the option of parking at the hotel of their choice or parking at Northlands.

Northlands will allow overnight parking, so you may to choose to leave your vehicle at Northlands during your stay in Edmonton and use the complimentary shuttle, LRT, or taxi to get to your hotel and back.

There is a daily parking fee at the Northlands of $12.00 per day. If you wish to prepay for more than one day/night parking at Northlands, you may do so at the parking gate.  Once you pay for your parking you will be issued a pass to be displayed on your dashboard, saving you time at the gate each day.
